Question by Karen S.: How much does it cost for a dental “deep cleaning” ?
Does anyone know what is the going rate that a dentist charges in Northern CA for deep cleaning? I do not have dental insurance. My dentist is located in the Bay Area. The total time spent was about 2.5 hours (2 sessions). Some x-rays were taken first. The dentist examined them. Determined that only deep cleaning is needed. The person who does the actual cleaning was the dental hygienist. I was charged $ 575 total. That seems a bit too high.

for a deep cleaning that seems right. As long as you continue to go back every 6 months you shouldn’t need another one.
Also, if they asked you to come bac kabout 6 weeks later so they can look at your gums, please do it. It is critical in order to chart the progress or healing of your gums.

Yes that is high but if you havent been to a dentist in more than a year then the longer you wait to have a cleaning the more expensive it gets to have your teeth cleaned!
You can always shop around and ask “Cash” prices at different dental offices over the phone before making an appointment.
